I started taking the Bosque County News, which, incidentally, is a terrific local newspaper. The front article in the Feb 11, 2009 article is about how the sale to Rose Beck of Meridian Manor is STILL NOT FINISHED. She has STILL not come up with the money but for some reason, the people in charge are letting her not only run it but boot out the clinic Goodall-Witcher that was in there. The article further says that Beck expects her *lender* to come up with the $30,000 owed, whoever that *lender* is and the rest of the money, $750,000 is supposed to be paid within 30 days of the initial payment.

Since we already know that.

Glen Rose Health Care Partnership doesn't exist as a company on the SOS website, but Beck has said that's the buyer.
Beck has said that GRMC is going to staff a clinic there after the sale
Beck has been a consultant for GRMC and the nursing home and said that the center was going to provide *support* for the clinic after the sale.
Gary Marks has said that the center was going to staff and operate a clinic after the sale.

Would it be too much to wonder if maybe the reason Rose Beck has been dragging this out is because she's waiting to see what happens with the Glen Rose hospital district election on Saturday, Feb 14? You know, the one that proposes to use taxpayer money to not only fund health care in this county but outside of it.

This is still so interesting and I think your suspicions are noteworthy. I have been following this too. While GRMC suddenly took the posture of being totally unrelated to Rose Beck, and rather dumb lucky about having a sudden opportunity in Meridian "to increase the patients coming to Glen Rose," Rose Beck has been quite mysterious around Glen Rose. She seems to be just awkwardly holding the bag in a holding pattern down there.

While Mr. Marks and his employees are so firm on their stance, how can they explain the rumors of key personnel being asked to prepare to serve in Meridian, even at the nursing home. OK, that's rumors. Explain this one.....

I personall know a lady who lives in Meridian and in early January found herself in desperate need for a job. She checked the local newspaper, the Bosque County News, and saw a GRMC ad. She called GRMC and asked about the posting (she had already checked with Meridian Manor, and they told her that they were not hiring). GRMC HR dept carefully explained to this lady that the posting was for work in MERIDIAN MANOR, but she needed to come to GRMC to make application. That is what she did.

Since then, since the lady never heard back from GRMC, she took a job some 50 miles from home. Well, last Monday, this lady called GRMC to follow up on her application. The first person to speak to her (shall remain nameless now) informed this lady that she was quite mistaken, that GRMC never was hiring for Meridian. She was put on hold, and a superior of the first GRMC rep picked up the line and in greater detail insisted that the lady was totally mistaken. The HR person (also nameless for now) informed the Meridian lady that there is not and has never been an association between Rose Beck and GRMC and Meridian Manor. But, the HR person did offer to forward this lady's application to Rose Beck at Meridian Manor. The lady from Meridian said, "it sounded like they were reading from a script."

At this point, the lady from Meridian told me that she has no desire to be involved with such deceptive entities. And she is really quite unaware to all the stuff that has been going on in Glen Rose.

I thinks that these details exemplify how deceptive this whole hospital tax district thing has been handled. I think that the underhanded and deceptive dealings and presentations have actually hurt the chances for a hospital district to pass. I hope voters will use their brains and vote this thing down. Then we can regroup, take a more honest approach, and next year reconsider it.
