I previously posted about this here, http://salon.glenrose.net/default.asp?view=plink&id=9677, and have followed up today with both the Glen Rose Newspaper and the mother of the child who was awarded the scholarship.

I went into the Glen Rose Newspaper first after repeated phone calls were not returned by owner/editor Billie Jones and asked her what is the deal on the scholarship they awarded but have not paid. She was angry and told me that it was between her and the family and that she had been in communication with the mother/daughter about it. I expressed that it is not right for a paper who is supposed to be involved in the community to promise a scholarship and not follow through on it. She again told me she is in communication with the mother/daugther.

I then went down to the mother of the child awarded the scholarships office and asked her about it. Billie Jones had been contacted by the mother yesterday and was told it was still in legal process.The Glen Rose Newspaper is not the one who contacted the mother but the mother still trying to get the Glen Rose Newspaper to follow through on its promise. She has yet to receive any type of money even though she has shelled out two semesters from her own wallet.
