just got sent this from a reader

Just wanted to remind everyone that there is a town hall meeting on Wednesday night, Feb 11 at 6:30 pm at the Citizen's Center on Benard Street in Glen Rose.

The comment period for the second notice expires on Feb 13th and we will have letters prepared to assist with getting additional letters sent to the TCEQ.

I will be updating everyone as to where we are with the process and what we need to do over the next few weeks.

I will be updating you on what Sid Miller is doing for us and will be updating everyone on the activities of our legal team.  Two legal researchers from UT Austin will be in attendance and will want to talk to local residents to understand their concerns with the Rock Crushing operation at Chalk Mountain.

As I said in October, this is going to be a difficult process to win, but we are having a positive impact towards our goal of keeping Rock Crushing out of the pristine environment at Chalk Mountain.  We can win and I will share with you a successful outcome and how the local citizens in South Texas were able to stop a Rock Crusher on the Guadalupe River.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Citizen's Center at 6:30 Wednesday night.  Plese help me by passing this email and message on to everyone you know who is interested in keeping Rock Crushing out of Chalk Mountain.

Thanks,
Darrell

1 - Anon   10 Feb 2009 @ 11:56:05 PM  You folks up there should OPPOSE this rock crushing operation. This rock will only go to places like Booger County to build yet another "White Rock Road to Texas" to produce more of that BAD GAS from the Savelle Field and other fields down there. Lots of problems there.

The problem, anon, as you no doubt know, is that TCEQ approves just about anything and it's very hard to prove the opposite. You'd practically have to have visible big chunks of crap blowing through the air that you can capture and then SHOW TCEQ for them to pay attention. They don't do their own monitoring. In fact, they don't really HAVE a way to monitor, except through, possibly, a piece of scotch tape on a window ledge-and then you'd have to prove that the crap on that tape actually came from the location you SAID it did.

3 - Anon   11 Feb 2009 @ 3:47:24 PM  You are so right--the WCEQ is totally worthless. No help to the ordinary citizen. It ought to be taken off public funding. It should be allowed to go to the industrial polluter to solicit its funding. A lot of tax money would be saved---and nothing would change!

4 - Anon   11 Feb 2009 @ 7:21:56 PM  Local citizens still may want to attend the meeting and when the WCEQ says something--laughter, smirks and justering in the audiance. When they ask for citizen input--everybody walks out of the room.
