List of earmarks, some of which have co-sponsors for Chet Edwards for 2008.

Here's the link to the specific one for $315,000 for the GRMC. Wondering. Since the county holds the lease for hte GRMC, including the land, building and equipment and leases it to the GRMC for $1.00 per year, is this earmark actually for Somervell County, except that it benefits the private foundation GRMF?

...thinking about this some more. So, let's say that Gary Marks is the one lobbying to get the equipment but the earmark actually goes to Somervell County, which owns the building and equipment but isn't actually running the hospital/clinic. That way, taxpayer money is going to another public taxpayer supported entity even though it is Gary Marks up there with his hand out. Suppose this was Harris Methodist or some other clinic other than GRMF. Would it be appropriate for them to lobby Congress to give equipment to the local county for them to use? Maybe that's how stuff gets done, I don't know. But the question is still raised in my mind about what kind of bids were put out in the first place and how GRMF won the 1.00 per year lease.

...more ... but this is an earmark, not to the Somervell County Hospital Authority but to Glen Rose Medical Center which is a dba for the Glen Rose Medical Foundation, a private foundation. Does this mean that if for some reason the lease that the GRMF has with Somervell County goes away, they'll take whatever it is they got with this US taxpayer money because it was to THEM and not Somervell County?
