Reading *The Devil in Dover* by Lebo and was surprised to see Glen Rose mentioned in the book

*The Devil in Dover* is a highly entertaining account of the Kitzmiller vs Dover Board of Education case involving intelligent design's smackdown. I was a little appalled when I read how the school board destroyed the audio tapes of evidence of their comments at school board meetings, so that they wouldn't be exposed as liars (but a television station had one of the school board members talking about creationism) and it reminded me in a way of how the GRISD school board is no longer audio recording their meetings, even though the public can.  Anyway, it's a great read and I have the last chapter, with the verdict, to go.

Meanwhile, the author decided, before the verdict came in, to go on a 2 week creationist inspired trip. She came to Texas. from page 181

My journey led me to Texas. Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas sits in the Paluxy Flats, near the northern edge of the Hill Country. About 105 milion years ago, the area perched at the edge of an ocean, an ancient seashore now turned to stone. According to park exhibits, fossilized dinosaur prints were made several days after a violent storm surged across the low-lying coastline, burying teh marshes with sandy, limey mud. An exhibit offers this enticing narrative "Across the still wet surface, a small gorup of sauropods journeyed south in search of food, followed by their mortal enemies".

She also went to the Creation Evidence Museum.

Baugh is perhaps best known for his claim to have discovered human footprints inside dinosaur prints. He said he has excavated 14 dinosaurs, 475 dinosaur tracks, 86 human footprints and 7 cat prints from the Cretacious limestone along the Paluxy River... "So where do I find these human footprints?" I asked her [the woman behind the counter]. She told me they're on private property and the owner never lets people on the land any more because of vandalism. I was too bored to argue.

She then went to a tattoo parlor in Glen Rose and got a tattoo of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Didn't there used to be a tattoo parlor on Barnard Street? Wonder if that's where she went? Maybe it's still there and I just haven't kept my eyes open for tattoo parlors.

Anyway, it's a longer, interesting account and I thought it was kind of neat that the reporter came here before the verdict came in.

Meant to update this. The tattoo parlor, sadly, is gone. But Flying Spaghetti Monster lives on..
