I started to watch "Dan in Real Life" and had to turn it off after 15 minutes or so, or at the point when his kid was in the bathroom with the girlfriend. But that's not what got me itching for the off switch. In what world does a guy who just happens to meet a female at a coffee shop and have a long conversation suddenly think it's appropriate, later, in a different setting, tell her that he has to make sure he doesn't pay attention to her because she's too attractive? Only a real weirdo.  I mean, having a conversation with the opposite sex ONE TIME doesn't give him or her the right to suddently get overly personal with you. And then, when the daughter comes into the bathroom when the girlfriend is going to take a shower, and INSTEAD OF ASKING THE GIRL TO LEAVE, the girfriend stips down and gets into the shower, where Dan is hiding? Oh, ... Please... That puts this movie, which I give ONE STAR, into the not only unbelieveable but cringe movie category.

Saw "Guliani Time". Now that was a documentary worth seeing. I knew that Rudy was unpopular before 9/11 for various reasons, though it was only because of how he treated the cops, but this was a real eye opener. I had seen part of a documentary about a month ago about people who live in tunnels under NYC and wondered why anyone would do that. This documentary explained why and showed that Rudy's claim to cleaning up NYC was actually a sham. 5 stars.

After I shut off Dan, I still wanted to watch a movie and turned on "The Motorcycle Diaries" about Che Guevera. One of the most beautiful and haunting movies I have ever seen. I don't know too much about Che, aside from seeing his face on t-shirts, but the end of the movie said he had been assassinated by the CIA. 5 stars.

Have now seen two version of "3:10 to Yuma". The one with Glenn Ford is the better version, I think. The remake had way to much blabby explanation for WHY these criminals would have been doing this or that. Also, and I don't want to spoil the movie, the motivation for the ending in the earlier version was crystal clear and delightful. In the remake, why the criminal did what he did made little sense, didn't seem believeable and an opportunity for gratuitous violence. As a side note, I have always liked Ben Foster as a character actor, saw him first in one of the top 10 movies I love "Get Over It".  Anyway, I will probably watch 3:10 to Yuma again, the original with Glenn Ford, but not the remake.

Tonight I wan to watch "Judgement at Nuremberg". I just finished reading "The Dark Side" about hte Bush presidency torture policies. Will write about that one separately.
