I'm not going to clip the whole thing but the parts that particularly interested me. I have audio of the whole thing on THIS post if you want to hear the meeting. I will say that the turnout was huge, and I was kind of fascinated that Tommy Davis wouldn't speak for himself but did it through someone he hired, a woman who had an affinity for smacking gum. I'm a little distressed, personally, that the bureaucratic process is so sliced and diced-the ONLY issue to be considered last night was the permit for the rock crushing machine. Seems like there should be some kind of umbrella organization that covers more, as a permit might be approved that meets the very narrow specificaion that the TCEQ sets out, while still trashing the neighborhood in general.
P.S. I was at a shindig last night and spoke to a couple of people who were at the Save Chalk Mountain TCEQ meeting. Both were pretty appalled at Miller's seeming lackadaisical attitude about Chalk Mountain. The fact that an entire room stood up to applaud the Alan S when he said "We don't need a facilitator" but rather someone to stand up for the county, showed the effect Miller's middle-of-the-road attitude had on the attendees.
