Ridiculous Baloney Email about Obama Being the Antichrist AND the Christian Nation

29 September 2008 at 11:53:20 AM

I can't believe this little email whispering campaign is STILL going on. For the people who forward emails like I'm putting on this thread, don't they THINK AT ALL about what they are sending and whether it is even plausible? Or 1? I am not the type of person that enjoys sending chain emails (or receiving them either) so I don't get the kick that someone gets from forwarding this crap out, but it sure must not be from a desire to be informative.

Here's the email interspersed with my comments.

This will make you re-think: A Trivia question in Sunday School:

How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what Thatis. Almost a four-year term of a Presidency. All I can say is "Lord, Have mercy on us!"According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is:  “The anti-Christ willbe a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise 0 hope and worldpeace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything”.Do we recognize this description??I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times asyou can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend ormediaoutlet...do itI refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere.

First Clue that this is CRAP about Obama. Barack Obama is NOT A MUSLIM.

Second Clue that this is CRAP. Even if you DID believe that the Bible talks, in Revelation, about the Antichrist, when Revelation was written, the Muslim faith didn't exist.

From: Dr. John Tisdale ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Friends As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . ."we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . ." As with so many other statements I've heard him(and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hearsomething like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation--and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.

Guess what. Obama is RIGHT. The United States was NOT founded as s Christian nation. And it's appalling that some religious bigots went to disenfranchise other religions from the United States, and IGNORE that we have FREEDOM OF RELIGION in this country.. and that includes, um, christians, jews, muslims and buddhists as well as people who, conversely want freedom FROM religion.

I hope that each of you will do what I'm doing now--send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God's help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation! Please pray for our nation

Look. Barack Obama has a website to fight these smears against him. But you know, you who are sending this CRAP have an obligation, don't you, to be smart and STOP sending out vicious chain mail smears?

And, you don't want to vote for Obama? Fine. But don't do it on the basis of a bunch of LIES and CRAP but because you don't care for his positions.

P.S. Since I first wrote this, another nutbag has surfaced in the news, the one that started the Barack Obama is a Muslim smear.  NOT the same man as Tinsdale, but the Smoking Gun has his mugshots and a letter he wrote in which he said he wanted to exterminate Jews. I want to say again, THIS IS A MAN WHO MADE UP A SMEAR AND SPREAD IT THROUGH EMAIL-or, rather, by getting people who ought to know better to send it on without questioning what it says.

Martin's sleazy background has gained renewed attention in light of his appearance this month in a Sean Hannity-hosted Fox News documentary about Obama. During that October 5 program, Martin claimed that the Democratic presidential candidate was once "in training for radical overthrow of the government." Martin offered no proof for this claim, nor was any sought by Hannity, who identified Martin as an "Internet journalist." Nor did Fox mention the kooky Martin's history of anti-Semitic statements or his arrest record (click here to view five of his mug shots). In fact, Martin is wanted in New York and Florida on outstanding arrest warrants.

I'm a committed Christian. I'm decidedly going to vote for Sen McCain. Reason? Because I differ with Sen Obama's position on the

Thank you. That's exactly my point. I don't think every person who professes to be Christian plays into the ignorant stereotype encompassed by that, yes, embarrassing email. After all, there are many Christians who are going to vote for Obama. As you said, many people look at the positions and platforms and decide who would be a better president, not based on smears. Frankly, I think what McCain is doing now, smearing Obama behind his back while not bringing up the smears to his face at the debate, is the equivalent of these 0 chain mails and I'm happy to see that last night, Obama said that McCain needed to say these character smears to his face.

Anyway, good for you for pushing back. Seems like a lot of people who hate spam can't see that sending out chain emails make them spammers as well.

As my wonderful Mother used to say to me, "Dear, the only thing I'm really afraid of is ignorance."

Controlling others through Fear is as old as we are, isn't it?

Time for that to change!

Not just fear and ignorance.  What is going around also is "misplaced" anger, which apparently many Americans have a lot of and don't know where to direct it and/or simply are misdirecting it.

I think it's funny that you speak of ignorance, yet spell BOLOGNA wrong! All you have to do is sing the little Oscar Mayer song that we all heard as kids!!!! HA! HA! IGNORANCE!!

John Tisdale sent me an email that says:

An email has circulated referring to “Revelation 13, a Muslim, age 40, etc.” that indicates I may have either originated and/or sent it.  The purpose of the email is to imply that presidential candidate Senator Obama might be the anti-Christ. I am not the originator of that email and have not sent nor forwarded it to anyone. It appears that someone was forwarded a letter I wrote to some friends about a speech Senator Obama made where he said “America is no longer a Christian nation, at least not just, but is a Hindu nation, a Jewish nation, etc.” Someone then added the portion referencing Revelation, etc. to my letter implying that I either originated it and/or endorsed it.  The font and style is not the same on the “Revelation, anti-Christ” email and the letter I wrote. The letter I wrote appears at the bottom of the “Revelation” email. Revelation 13 does not teach what the email says it teaches.

I am not a supporter of Senator Obama, but I do not condone using 0 Biblical teachings to infer he might be the anti-Christ. I have never believed that he is, or might be, the anti-Christ. I do not condone writing 0hoods and/or forwarding 0hoods via mail, snail mail, or word of mouth.

Heres his address and email if you want to write to him.

I never heard of him before this, but I'm glad he ponied up about that ridiculous antichrisft balony. The other points I have already addressed.
