People who saw one of the only two black guys at the White Party Conference tonight maybe don't know what a bad reputation Michael Williams and the RRC has in Texas (except among Republican Perry cronies) but the PEOPLE know.
But Williams said his support for the GOP ticket is "based on ideals and world view."
What ideals are those? Allowing crap into the ground through injection wells with litlte monitoring and near homes and water? Or maybe people dying through ATMOS explosions because the RRC wants to keep up a good crony relationship. (Take a look at the video on that link from WFAA that talks about explosions in Dallas and surrounding areas, including Cleburne. Watch about 7:30 where Michael Williams WOULD NOT MEET WITH THE PRESS. )
"Politics is more than just racial solidarity," said Williams, who's running for re-election and is among those expected to be interested in a race for the Senate if Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison resigns to run for governor in 2010.
Boy you know that's right when he was one of only two people of color even speaking.
His speech drew a slam from his Democratic opponent, Mark Thompson, who said he should have talked about energy alternatives. Williams, Thompson said, "is bought and paid for by the oil and gas industry."
Williams, a Midland native, began serving on the commission in 1999 after being named to fill a vacancy by Gov. George W. Bush and has won two elections to keep the seat. Also on his resume are past federal appointments by former President George H.W. Bush.
We're voting for Mark Thompson of Hamilton. He at least lives near Hico, where the RRC was shilling for a nasty commercial injection well right on the Bosque River.
