Um. Sarah Palin! The Founding Fathers Did NOT PUt *Under God* in the Pledge

I was looking at some of Sarah Palin's positions and ran across this. (update: see bottom for new link)

11. Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.

Palin. Use the Google. A simple search would have shown you that your comment was made in complete ignorance of the facts.

  • The Pledge of Allegiance was NOT written by the Founding Fathers nor in the TIME of the Founding Fathers. It was written, sans the words "Under God" in 1892
  • The words "Under God" were not added until 1954.

Perhaps this is one ot the items that Palin will Learn At the Feet Of Her Master, John McCain.

Update: OOOPSIE. The Eagle Forum didn't LIKE people actually going to their site and reading about Palin so they removed the post. But I saved it here. You can run but you can't hide.

Don't forget that women didn't have the right to vote in the time of our forefathers, and that the idea of a woman holding any type of public office would not have been received well. And don't forget about slavery!! That was good enough (for at least some) of our forefathers; is it time to start repealing amendment 13?!?!

Sarah Palin does not appear to have any idea of what's been going on in this country for the last 200 years; does she have any idea about what's going on in our country right now?

I wondered why the interviewer didn't call her on this? After all, it's widespread knowledge that the pledge didn't have the words "Under God" until recently. Anyone old enough to have gone to school in the 1950's would know that.

There is/are no god(s). Believing in a god or gods is just wishful thinking. I don't know what all this fuss is about.
