Wrote about all the brouhahah concerning Palin and her down syndrome child, including a rumour that perhaps it was Sarah Palin's child and Bristol was the mother of the down syndrome baby instead of Sarah Palin.
But THIS is a story purported to be 1. Bristol Palin, 17 years old, is pregnant. Five months pregnant. And McCain says he KNEW that Palin's daughter was pregnant.
The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.
Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughter's pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old governor in any way.
Actually I don't believe that. Do you? Do you REALLY think that Palin wouldn't have been IMMEDIATELY crossed off the list if McCain knew the daughter was preggers? And that he was trying to woo, besides women, evangelicals? It's baloney because he did NOT properly vet her before deciding on this airhead.
Some family, eh? As noted before, it appears that Sarah Palin herself eloped because she and Todd Palin were having a child out of wedlock. Must run in the family to get preggers first, and THEn marry. Mistakes happen, but it sure isn't a model family. I"m guessing she won't be pushing the Abstinence meme on the campaign trail. eh? And it STILL doesn't say much for her judgment to go flying off to give a speech in Grapevine, Texas, have her WATER break, but stay to give her speech and then, instead of running to the hospital to get checked out, fly back to Alaska. She seems like a huge ditz to me.
This picture pretty well says it all.
P.S. Nobody raises a perfect family. Nobody. There isn't any parent, myself included, that doesn't go back and wonder if he or she could have done something different or watched a little closer or whatever. Just ask the people involved with Julie Tungeln, the child sexual predator that was recently arrested. But what I object to is the hypocrisy. You can't go around the country claiming that you're a great family with some kind of moral superiority based on your poltical and religious views while your own daughter is apparently not supervised to the extent of getting pregnant. And saying, oh, but NOW she'll get married, is a copout to all the people who want to believe that if they just follow a path of abstinence (because, after all, what is abstinence except self-control?) they won't have to take birth control or resort to abortions, etc etc. It's the hypocrisy.
P.P.S. On a more conspiratorial note, just rumor-mongering. Suppose the baby really is Bristol's and, in order to explain some added weight NOW, her mom says she's pregnant. Then, within the next few months, poor poor Bristol has a miscarriage and loses the baby, both engendering sympathy and losing the need to cough up a baby in 4 months. Yes, I know that's outlandish and says that the Palins would be lying about the baby and trying to continue to cover it up by continuing to make her daughter the fall guy. But what a choice, eh? Palin either is a strange loose cannon attempting to cover up her daughter's pregancy and birth OR she is a not-very-attentive mother with a pregnant teenage daughter with a baby coming out of wedlock. Either way, she doesn't seem like a VP one could be proud of.
