I know that TxDOT has to be begged, pleaded with and cajoled to spend money on something other than it's PR campaign for toll roads, but it seems like they need to pony up for this particular intersection. Mike Ford, County Commish for 2, has brought this up before, it needs to be done.. and soon. Here's the deal. You're travelling west on Hwy 67 going towards Stephenville. The road winds down around pretty much a blind corner, and then at the bottom of the wind, you turn left to go to Fossil Rim. Is there a turning lane? No. So what that means is that if, say, you have a big giant semi truck coming up behind you, even though he (or she) might have seen your turn signal, odds are he's going, not to stop behind you, but barrel on by on the right -hand shoulder. Cars do it all the time. Seems like you know you're in Texas when you see people driving on the shoulder, mostly to let YOU pass because there's only two lanes.

(In this picture, heading west, Fossil Rim road (CR 2008) is on the left, and Fossil Chase is slightly more west with its entrance on the right)
But now a new factor has come in that is going to guarantee wrecks. A subdivision called Fossil something or other (I may go take a picture in a bit and update the page) has put up a fancy entrance a little bit west of 2008 on Hwy 67. Any turning lane going into that potential subdivision? Nope.

(Taken while standing on Cr 2008 looking across HWY 67)
So let's just run that semi scenario one more time. There's a car behind me AND a semi. The car is going to turn RIGHT into that subdivision, the truck is behind it, but I''m first turning LEFT onto 2008. The truck assumes it can pass on the right because the driver always does that, and WHAMMO, smacks into the car turning right.

I looked on the way into town the other day and I can't see, on Hwy 67, any other place that is potentially this unsafe. Morrison Valley and Ridgeview are easily seen, and when you're going west, you have 3 lanes instead of two, so somebody can still pass.
What do you think? Are there places you think are unsafe in Glen Rose or Somervell County where there needs to be a stoplight, stopsign or turning lane? It'll tell you I think people are going to DIE or get injured in some wrecks and I hope it's not a matter that TxDOT has to have *wreck* justification before fixing a turning lane there.
