Is there ANYONE that doesn't know that one main reason the surge/escalation of troops has been said to be *working* is because the military has put up some gigantic concrete walls around Baghdad neighborhoods, and checkpoints where people that live there can't go in and out without showing ID? What is WRONG with Gramps McCain?????

On Friday at the National Urban League, McCain suggested he'd fight crime using "tactics somewhat like we use in the military."

He went on to describe how it would work: "You go into neighborhoods, you clamp down, you provide a secure environment for the people that live there, and you make sure that the known criminals are kept under control," he said. "And you provide them with a stable environment and then they cooperate with law enforcement."

The McCain campaign appears to be on the verge of trademarking The Surge.

"Most Americans identify The Surge as taking resources and putting them where they’re needed for success," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds told ABC's Bret Hovell.

"This is a concept that we feel like we can replicate," Bounds said.

Maybe like the military made these building *zones*.

NO FRIGGIN WAY!  If YOU want to live that way, go buy into a gated community and then put some 10 feet concrete walls around your subdivision. Then YOU can have a guard check YOUR ID when you come in and out. But YOU can be the fearful anomalie.

P.S. Let's not forget that in 2007 the Iraqi Parliament VOTED AGAINST those walls. I don't know why they're up anyway, but people in Iraq don't want them either.
