Hypocrisy Alert! Clinton Dumping Bill for Cheating -versus Walking out of church for comments

I've been thinking since yesterday how much I admire Barack Obama and how truly presidential he is, how down to earth. As on this earlier post, I was thinking about how he was asked why he didn't dump Jeremiah Wright right away and he said, basically, that if he had been trying to be politically expedient, he would have denounced Wright right away. As I said, I admire that-relationships are complicated and it's not always cut and dried to end one.

And it came to me then just how completely hypocritical Hillary Clinton is.  She said in one of the million debates that have been on in this LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG campaign, that if she had been in that church and heard what Jeremiah Wright had to say, she would have walked right out.

Okay. But then, can't we hold her to the same yardstick about her marriage to Clinton? What DOES it take to get someone to denounce, divorce, remove herself completely from someone who is a liar, a sneak and a cheater? Did SHE immediately leave the marriage when she found out that Bill was cheating on her? And we all know it wasn't the first time with Monica Lewinsky. Hillary Clinton CHOSE to stay in what many would consider an abusive, and dysfunctional relationship, and CHOSE that over and over again.

IF you're one of those that admire her for sticking by her man despite him being a complete ass, then you can't not admire Obama for also not immediately cutting off a longtime friend (or at least, at that point, who he considered a friend) who had baptized his kids, married him and his wife.  By the yardstick that people seem to want to make Obama follow, Clinton also should have immediately, THE FIRST TIME BILL CHEATED ON HER, walked out and never looked back. But she didn't.

So I think we need to cut the crap about the 0 double standards here. Deciding who to keep as friends or members of your family or marriage are intensely personal decisions that no one else can (or should) make for a person.
