*Deregulation* Worms Its Way Into Our Wallets

Gov. Rick Perry never had a problem "galloping" around the state to push through legislation for his special interests.

Taxpayers are overpaying for services.

Electric companies have dramatically increased costs to customers.

Electric cooperatives, e.g., Pedernales Electric Coop, do NOT have oversight under Texas law.

Texas A&M just raised its tuition rates 6.5 percent.

The University of Texas (UT) raised its tuition 4 times during the past 1.5 years and will do so again shortly.

Health care costs continue to skyrocket despite promises to the contrary by Perry, Craddick and legislators.

Three years ago Gov. Rick "39-percent" Perry made certain that he and legislators deregulated tuition of higher education by galloping around the state saying that deregulation would provide more competitive costs, just as he did regarding the deregulation of others of his special interest industries, e.g., electricity, health care and even home insurance.

House Speaker Tom Craddick is another proponent of deregulation of special interest constituents.

History shows us that Perry's promises to hardworking Texans are meaningless.

So when will Texas voters get smarter by voting-out the current state management?

Recently I received an email response on this issue and to my commentary from Rep. Garnet Coleman who agrees:

Tom Craddick Has continued to stand behind Tuition deregulation and cuts to higher education . My colleagues who want to move Texas forward not backwards voted against the bill and have filled legislation to indo this horrible policy to no hearing and no avail. We will keep fighting with you till we fix this Craddick/Perry mess.

thanks,

garnet f. Coleman

Never in Texas history has a governor promoted his or her wealthy special interests over those of the people as has Perry. There is a reason why 61-percent of the voters did NOT want him reelected.

As long as Perry, Craddick, et. al., remain in power they remain detrimental to most hardworking Texans and their families.
