Condoleeza Rice was the National Security Advisor on 911 and pre-911. Her biggest single failure is the reason we were attacked successfully on 911. Since she failed at her job the Bush administration gave her a promotion to Secretary of State where she has failed yet again. 1.5% of the US Senate personal information has been compromised by contractors who, for some strange reason, have access to these files. This is just what we know today...how many other US Senators personal information has been disclosed, let alone mine or yours. The information in these files includes social security numbers, addresses, and enough information to do identity theft and take over someone's identity. On the technical side of the house...there are rights given to users who access information on a computer or over a network, two of these rights are WRITE permissions and READ permissions. These contractors do not need READ access, just WRITE, but the incompetent Condoleeza Rice has obviously not implemented these permissions since a breach has happened on mulitple occassions. One other technical point is that I do some technical work and go onsite to customer sites...and work on their computers but I am never left alone unsupervised to work on some company's computers, how is it that the office of the Secretary of State allows people to use these computers without being supervised? People are always watching over my shoulder...where were these people at the state dept? What does it take for Bush to fire someone? Let alone someone who has repeatedly proven to be unable to take on the jobs that have been given to her. Shame on Condoleeza Rice for not taking care of people's private information at the state dept, shame on Bush for not firing her, and shame on the people who did not report this up the chain so an investigation by the IG could be accomplished.

Or how about a good old-fashioned *Access Denied* on records that are supposed to be offlimits from being read? Last night when I was watching this unfold as breaking news on Countdown, a point was mentioned that, because Bill Clinton had had his passport data breached during the Bush I administration, some safeguards were put on the computer system to monitor when someone accessed files of presumably more of a private nature (that kind of begs the question about why you and me can't have just as private information). I wonder if the systems back 30 years ago were so primitive that they couldn't put security permissions on files. But if we assume that might be 1, then I have to wonder what OTHER systems in government also have little or no security other than flagging abuses.
