Strikes me that for all the wailing that Republicans have done over Bill Clinton and the shouting of Republican Family Values (although that meme is entirely dead now) that maybe they just don't have a problem with having adulterous cheaters in office, as long as they're in the same party. I never did see them chastise David Vitter who more than once was going for prostitutes But John McCain is really scummy and I doubt that, anything else aside, there's any female that woudln't agree with me. I mean, his WIFE sacrificed for him the entire time he was overseas and she was injured. What happens when he gets back to his faithful wife? She's dumped for a rich bimbo.

Not posting your entire chest-thumping endorsement of John McCain or a long recitation of how you are a liberatarian et al; perhaps Neal Boortz would be a better place for all that. The topic on this post is about cheating and Republican Family Values. Perhaps you aren't concerned about the character issues of a man that cheats repeatedly on his wife (wives), but a lot of people are-a lot of people were also turned off Bill Clinton doing the same, including me. I also was appalled by Newt Gringrich and his serving divorce papers to his wife while she was in the hospital. The issues of John McCain and the Keating 5 scandal, and lying repeatedly to the public (or maybe those are just senior moments) are detailed on other posts on this blog. THIS topic is about character values regarding adultery.

Confidential to roanoke_riddler. John McCain's reputation as a cheater is documented and well known. He himself has talked about the fact that he cheated on his wife, Carol Shepp, with Cindy Hensley.

"His personal life, however, was less than stellar. Carousing, womanizing, and a poor choice of companions led to some unsavory episodes, and ultimately resulted in a divorce from his first wife in 1980. Candid about this period in his life, McCain explained to Pierce, "One of the reasons I've been reluctant to judge other people is that I've had so many failures of my own. I failed when I was in prison. I failed in my [first] marriage. I think that if there are any benefits from my failure, it's to realize that other people fail, too."

He met his current wife, heiress to a family's wealth, in 1979, and divorced Carol in February of 1980 (Wikipedia).

I've read that you felt very out of place in Washington. And, in fact, when you were first married, people there gave you a hard time because of the age difference between you and Senator McCain, that you struggled to be taken seriously even by some of his own staffers. Washington is a company town. When I first met John, and the story has been told a lot, we both lied about our ages. But, truthfully, I never even noticed that he was that much older.

You may wish to change the facts, the words that McCain himself has spoken, but that alter that McCain cheated on his crippled wife and then dumped her to marry rich Cindy Hensley. That strikes me that he is an opportunist.
