I put up some more pictures of that here.
When we get a chance to go, we like to record the meeting. I always learn something interesting that I didn't know. LIke today, I learned that you can't burn trash in a burn barrel EVER in Somervell County... not just not when there's a burn ban on. There's a law in Texas that counties that have county-wide trash pickup (I assume that means availability, including private vendors) can't do the burn barrell thing. Now I wonder as well about piles of trees. Of course, it's been so dry for a long time AND there's a burn ban, that someone would not only be breaking the law but be CRAZY to burn anything-even when one mows one's grass, there's enough danger from flakes, etc that, especially with any type of wind, the fire could spread easily. I noticed in the Stephenville paper this morning that a fire started in Erath County from a train going through the area.

More pics of the commissioner's meeting here.
The Relay for Life won't be held at the high school stadium this year because of vendor requirements, but instead will be a the soccer field behind the Expo Center.
Also in the meeting was a discussion of moving the little house on the square to Heritage Park.
Incidentally, Judge Maynard found a funny political cartoon about TXDOT in the Waco trib, something about TxDOT expecting the taxpayers to dig them out of the hole TxDot dug.
I'll put up some clips today or tomorrow of some of the interesting video moments, here's an audio of the entire meeting. MP3
P.S. Not to sound shmoozy but I have genuine respect for our county commissioners and judge. Everybody, regardless of party, is very involved and interested, and it shows in the proceedings.
