The Department of Veterans Affairs has approved five construction projects at the Waco VA Hospital totaling $49 million, Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, announced Wednesday.
The announcement, which comes just a few short years after it appeared the hospital would be closed on the recommendation of an independent commission, cements the hospital’s role, particularly in providing mental health care.
“These projects are an important part of our plan to ensure the long-term future of the Waco VA as a national leader in serving America’s veterans,” Edwards said Wednesday.
“This is great news for Central Texas veterans and for all of us who have fought so hard together to protect and expand the Waco VA hospital”
