1 - dot   25 Nov 2007 @ 3:57:35 PM  How 1, how 1. The current system is oriented so that all the wealth is accumulated in fewer and fewer hands. If it continues, there will only be two people with all the wealth, and they will be clawing each other's eyeballs out for it!! We gotta vote the bas***** out of office in mass!!

2 - pstern   25 Nov 2007 @ 6:54:30 PM  Unfortunately most people don't recognize this. Fewer are voting each year. Even fewer care to register. I see this within my own extended family. And you can't reach them no matter how hard you try.

In particular, the Hispanic population of Central Texas are the majority now and could really change things if they could get it together. Most aren't registered and most don't vote.

I've been writing now in Texas for 8 years on many urgent issues and I can see the "climate" has changed since I began; however, it's not enough and it's not happening fast enough. If people wait much longer to get involved and change things it will be too late. Heck, it may be too late already.

As long as lobbyists have more import (and can actually write the laws) that Congress passes, and as long as corporate America pretends to be Just Folks LIke You and Me, this is going to continue.
