Remember before the last election when Perry's PR machine was touting his border cameras that, realistically, couldn't tell a bush from a person because the pics were so grainy? And I pictured a bunch of wanna-be vigilantes watching the website to see if they could see an illegal immigrant sneaking in so they could (what? do what?) tell on them. At the time it sure did look like it was a bunch of hooey to help Goodhair get elected. (Yeah, despite the fact that when this was brought up before, Perry's office said "No. No. This is NOT an election Ploy"... but their fingers were crossed behind their backs and no one asked to see). Heck, they even ran a TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLAR test that caught... 10 border crossings.
Anyway, I see today that there's no money for his cameras. The Texas Lege didn't fund them. They say that Federal Homeland Security should pay for them. And some of the people on the border are whining about it.
"We've identified a lot of areas to put these cameras up, and we have a lot of landowners who want them on their property," Vickers said. "We're in a war zone. Thousands are pouring in here. They just don't have the resources to catch them."
Um. War Zone? heh. Hello! If you're in a friggin war zone, it's only because Bush ordered the MILITARY down there to guard the borders. Sheesh.
Seems to me that if someone is really concerned about wanting to guard their property, why don't they go up on the internet and BUY THEMSELVES A CAMERA?????
