I've been meaning to write about this for the last week and was reminded again this morning with earmarks being debated by the House on C-span. I don't like earmarks getting slipped into bills and voted in before anyone knows what they are, and I don't care whether it's Republicans or Democrats doing it-it is the WRONG thing to do.

When Democrats took over Congress this year, they vowed to end the practice of secret earmarks that had landed a handful of corrupt Republicans in hot water, but critics claim that after six months in power they aren't living up to that pledge.
