A waitress was charged Thursday with making up a bomb threat against the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Sunday in what she said was a joke gone wrong.
McRitchie told Port Clinton Police officer Corbin Carpenter Tuesday she made up her story that two Middle Eastern men wrote the words "nuclear power plant" and "boom" on a napkin while dining at McCarthy's Irish Pub, where she is a waitress, according to a Port Clinton police report.
McRitchie was not available for comment. A woman who answered the phone at McCarthy's said McRitchie is still employed there, but staff would not comment on the incident.
She said a different group wrote "nuclear power plant" on a napkin, the report shows. She added the word "boom" and the Middle Eastern men, who ate at the restaurant Sunday, to exaggerate her story, the report shows.
When another waitress showed the napkin to a restaurant manager Monday, he asked McRitchie to call police. She said she did not tell him the truth because she was afraid she would be fired, the report shows.
