Imperial America as Empire-And US Putting Missiles In Europe

I still have a part of me that is amazed at the sheer tone-deaf arrogance of George Bush. Several weeks ago I heard a spokesman from Russia say that he didn't want US Missiles sitting right outside the border of Russia, in the Czech Republic and Poland. Well, who WOULD? And HOW is that defensive for the United States to be putting MORE weaponry (and attendant military personnel) in other countries? Does the United States intend to occupy every friggin country in the world? Is THAT what the United States has become?

A US plan to build part of its missile defence shield in the Czech Republic and Poland was a "purely defensive" measure not aimed at Russia, President George Bush said last night.

"My attitude on missile defence is that this is a purely defensive measure, not aimed at Russia," he told a news conference. "My message (to Russian President Vladimir Putin) will be: You should not fear the missile defence system, why don't you co-operate on the missile defence system? Why don't you participate with the United States? Send your generals over to see how such a system would work, send your scientists."

Russia is furious at US plans to put 10 missile interceptors in Poland and a radar system in the Czech Republic. It views the missile shield plan as a threat to its national security.

But here's what astonished me this morning. Look at the tone of how Bush talks about Putin and Russia-it's so dang PATRONIZING.

President George W. Bush dismissed threats by President Vladimir Putin of Russia to aim missiles at Europe on Wednesday, saying, "Russia is not going to attack Europe."

Bush said that no U.S. military response was required after Putin warned that Russia would take steps in response to a missile shield the United States plans to deploy in Poland and the Czech Republic.

"Russia is not an enemy," Bush said. "There needs to be no military response because we're not at war with Russia. Russia is not a threat."

In other words, Putin doesn't know what he's talking about. Idiot Pappa Bush will set childish Putin straight.

I cannot WAIT till this idiot is out of office. Not that the next person might be any better but hopefully A. we will get someone who isn't a C student B. isn't an arrogant so and so and C. talks to people like adults.
