Good to read this. You may remember that Somervell County Commissioners Court also brought up the same proposal in March's meeting. Seems that we out here in the rural counties don't want to be used as the dumping ground for Oil and Gas's waste products and we are lucky to have county commisioners who are taking the lead in protesting this. Bosque County Commissioners’ Court has officially registered its protest over the granting of a permit by the Texas Railroad Commission for any future "commercial disposal wells" to be drilled within the boundaries of Bosque County. The action came at its March 26 meeting.

"We’re not just going to sit back and do nothing," said County Judge Cole Word. "If we do, this kind of stuff could run rampant in our county."

Commissioner Kent Harbison reported that a recent incident in his precinct involving an illegal dumping of approximately 6,000 gallons of production mud onto private property reinforces the need to prohibit such activities.

Heard about that before, pretty disgusting that waste would be dumped right by the side of the road. Incidentally, in case you missed it, here was the meeting arranged in Kopperl, Bosque County, Texas on the *commercial waste disposal wells* aka waste injection wells.

Emergency Management Coordinator Dewey Ratliff explained that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the reporting of such "spills."

Harbison said the dump was within a quarter of a mile of Plowman Creek.

"This is just the tip of the iceberg," said Word.
