I remember hearing a couple of years ago about plans to build a museum on the corner of Hwy 67 and 144 (north-west side). Article not only talks about Smith's background, but also about the home office to be built.
New president, Smith, is a graduate of Texas Christian University in Ranch Management and has managed numerous registered cattle and Texas Longhorn Ranches in Texas. He was raised on the family ranch, LS Ranches formerly of Crowley, Texas, one of the premier Texas Longhorn herds in the nation. Prior to being elected ITLA President he has served on the ITLA board and worked with the Youth, was twice chairman of the International Convention and Championship Show as well as breeding and exhibiting several International Champions in the last 20 years.
ITLA is the only Texas Longhorn registry that allows a 100 percent member nomination of candidates and mail ballot election of all board members, the president and vice president.
The current ITLA home office is located on the west side of Fort Worth, Texas at 7451 Chapel Ave. President Smith will have a full schedule during his term with the main agenda item being the construction of a new home office building. Plans are completed for a spacious rock headquarters building to be constructed on 2.7 acres near the Expo Center on highway #67 at Glen Rose, Texas. ITLA is a growing organization with members in most states and several other countries.
