Why, Preston Hollow Elementary (pinkies up, pls) is the school where Laura Bush was library liason and the two drunkie twins went to school.
The family moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1988, and Mrs. Bush served as a member of the Friends of Dallas Public Library Board and Executive Committee and a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) volunteer and library liaison at Preston Hollow Elementary School, where her children attended school.
Preston Hollow is also the area that Van "Trust Fund Baby" Taylor moved from (Yes, he left his 1.2 million dollar home) before moving to West to run for office (which he... um...... LOST). What kind of area is Preston Hollow?
Preston Hollow is a wealthy & prestigious neighborhood in North Dallas, Texas. Located north of Northwest Highway (Loop 12) and south of I-635, east of Midway road and West of US-75 (Central Expressway), it is an oasis of magnificent homes and estates in a secluded country setting. Many of the sprawling homes in Preston Hollow are located on acreage, with tennis courts, pools and lavish grounds.
These neighborhood associations are spread across an area from Hillcrest to Midway, Walnut Hill to Northwest Highway that is now generally considered Preston Hollow. Here the city's grandest estate homes have been built, the nation's finest architects have designed homes, regional architecture has flourished and Dallas architects have left their mark.
I do note, again, your pinkies are still up, right? That most people, according to this comment, don't even ATTEND DISD schools in that affluent area.
"Preston Hollow is an affluent neighborhood where most children attend private schools.
One woman had to get up the courage to check out the school.
I was one of the sceptical parents who didn't think I wanted my children to go to Dallas ISD schools just from what I had read in the newspapers and heard from others at the park (who also had never stepped foot in the door). But once I got up the courage to go in and check it out for myself I was greatly impressed.
(I'll bet Van Taylor sent his kids to private school; if not, were they in Preston Hollow Elementary in the Whitey section?)
Here's the lawsuit from April, 2006 that charges that Preston Hollow Elementary used English as a Second Language classes (even though the Hispanic children spoke English) to segregate hispanics from whites.
The documents in the case show that Latino students who are proficient in English are, nonetheless, channeled into classes masked as “English as a Second Language.” Preston Hollow organizes its general education classes and even combines some grades to ensure that Anglo students, who comprise just 18 percent of the school, sit in majority white classrooms.
“Fifty years after Brown v. the Board of Education, it is a shame that segregation continues to plague our schools,” said David Hinojosa, MALDEF staff attorney and lead counsel in the case. “Using ESL as a proxy to segregate schoolchildren can not be tolerated. This lawsuit is intended to send a message that there is no justification for any school to treat Latino students any differently than white students,” Hinojosa added.
Here's a bizarre piece of trivia. Apparently the Preston Hollow area had, before they were voided, racial covenants that prevented the white owners from being able to sell to blacks. SNOPES ahead-apparently somebody (Matt Drudge) tried to use this against Bush before he ran for Pres the first time. I mention it not because Bush is guilty of being complicit in this, but that THIS IS THE KIND OF POSH UPSCALE AREA WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, that they at one time about 70 years ago had a convenent to KEEP BLACKS OUT.
So it isn't surprising that they would be trying to segregate the hispanics, class warefare style, from the rich white kids.
