I volunteered to help at the Food Bank today, and am going to greatly enjoy it. Janis Stout very capably manages the effort, as well as a team of dedicated volunteers. While I was there, people came by to donate or drop off canned goods for the bank. Most of the food is bought from the Ft Worth food bank at a discounted price.

That said, there were some parts of shelves that had none or little of some items. For example, green beans.. or peas. ... Why is that? Because the Food Bank fills its orders from the warehouse Food Bank in Fort Worth and what's available comes from there; ie, if Ft Worth doesn't have green beans, then there are none to choose from to bring to Glen Rose Food Bank. That said, it's simply amazing that there is the amount of food available to help the needy - but if decided, right now, to donate food or money to the Food Bank, it would definitely help.
