First, the main question I have is this: Should there ever be an occasion in which a Congressperson acts as a go-between to set up a meeting between a private corporation and another government entity? If that person does, should he or she then, whether before or after the meeting, accept payment through campaign donations from that company? Ponder on that one for a bit before you read further.

The Waco Tribune has an article today about Chet Edwards and Van Taylor and the question of when Edwards accepted campaign contributions from Lanny Peavy of American Amicable Life Insurance-was it before or after this?

An e-mail dated March 1, 2000, shows Edwards tried to set up a meeting between American Amicable Life Insurance Company and U.S. Army officials 12 days before company president Lanny Peavy gave Edwards
