I saw via the Glen Rose Reporter website that Matt Schieffer is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (the car) for running down Chris Bryant. As Bryant says in this second article in the Glen Rose Reporter, he's lucky to be alive as he received a number of significant injuries due to this. 

Apparently Bryant was dating Schieffer's estranged wife, by which I infer that she is not divorced from Schieffer yet. Regardless of how mad this may have made Schieffer, he had no right to drive into Bryant. I've heard the opinion that maybe because of *cheating*, Bryant got what he deserves. Frankly, that appalls me. No one has the right to assault someone else, and especially not with a lethal weapon such as an automobile. That automatically puts Bryant as the victim, regardless of how anyone thinks or feels about the ethics/morality of the relationships behind the scenes which none of us are privy to. (And incidentally, I question whether it was appropriate to put extraneous information in this article about a altercation Bryant had with a UPS driver in 2013, as bringing this up had the effect of coloring the article against Bryant as a victim and, while 1, unnecessary.)

One other piece from the 2nd article that surprised me. 

“I noticed his son was in the car so there was no retaliation at that point,” Bryant said. “Then he maneuvered in front of us and blocked us in. That’s when I exited the vehicle.”

Bryant said he approached Schieffer’s car and noticed a second child in the backseat.

“I said, ‘Matt, what are you doing? Take the kids home,’” Bryant said. “I started walking back to my vehicle and I heard him accelerate very fast. I eased back to the side and he made a hard left in my direction and clipped my legs and knocked me through the air.”

Ugh. If you're being chased, stalked, terrorized or threatened by someone, DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR. What I would do (or hope I would do)  if that had been me is two things. 1. Start driving to the sheriff's department, which doesn't seem to have been too far away, given the description of where this occurred and 2. Have at least one other person in the car whip out their smart phone and take video of the interaction, including zooming in on faces and license plates. It's pretty clear that this wasn't the first time that Schieffer had threatened Bryant and Bryant had contacted the sheriff's department several times. 

Of interest to note that according to jail logs of March 29, 2016, Schieffer had been jailed for   

Matthew Eric Schieffer, 41, of Glen Rose for injury to child/elderly/disable with intent of bodily harm. Released on March 24.

and also jailed in December 2018 for disorderly conduct

 Anyway, glad Chris Bryant survived and wish him a speedy recovery. AND shame on anyone that for this part alone of being assaulted, wants to paint him as the aggressor.
