Hard to keep up with how corrupt the Trump administration is, but this really takes the cake. All the while Trump is blustering in his bigoted way about the unamerican practice of trying to stop legal immigraiton, his own golf clubs have had illegal immigrants working there for at least the last 2 years and more. He had them fired when an article came out showing that this was the practice. This is "Do as I Say, Not as I do" hypocrisy.
Axios
The Washington Post located 16 former workers in Costa Rica and other countries who said they and other family members and friends were employed by the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., and that their managers knew they were undocumented.
Why it matters: From the campaign trail to the Oval Office, President Trump's rhetoric surrounding illegal immigration has been harsh and unyielding. Yet, as one former Bedminister worker told the Post: "Many of us helped get what [Trump] has today. This golf course was built by illegals."
The big picture: Reports of the Trump Organization's dependence on illegal workers have been documented by multiple media outlets. The Post obtained a 2011 police report that provides the first-known evidence that the Trump Organization was warned about the immigration status of its workers. Over the last two months, at least 18 people have been fired between five golf courses in New York and New Jersey.
You catch that? Despite the police in 2011 warning the Trump org about illegal status of works, Trump org wants to claim they Knew Nothing. Right. And they didn't actually fire people at their clubs until after this came out in the NY Times. Not surprisingly, they didn't use e-verify.
Hah. "My whole town practically lived there" (Costa Rica
Soon after Trump broke ground at Bedminster in 2002 with a golden shovel, this village emerged as a wellspring of low-paid labor for the private club, which charges tens of thousands of dollars to join. Over the years, dozens of workers from Costa Rica went north to fill jobs as groundskeepers, housekeepers and dishwashers at Bedminster, former employees said. The club hired others from El Salvador, Mexico and Guatemala who spoke to The Post. Many ended up in the blue-collar borough of Bound Brook, N.J., piling into vans before dawn to head to the course each morning.
Here's an irony. Back when Trump was running for president, he suggested that there should be a huge financial penalty for those who employ immigrants illegally. He lied about using e-verify to make sure his businesse weren't hiring undocumented employees (He wasn't using e-verify)
“Today we have things like E-Verify, where the employer will say, I’m sorry, I can’t do it. I use now E-Verify in most of my jobs,” Trump toldthe audience. “I have thousands and thousands of employees. I have hired tens of thousands of employees, many Hispanic, over the years. Many, many. They’re fantastic. Many from Mexico. Today, many, many employees from Mexico. They’re great.”
“But I have — and I think, to me, it’s very important — E-Verify,” he continued. “So now I find out: Are they legal or not? Now, if they can’t get a job, they’re moving out. They’re going to move out — No one has to — you don’t need soldiers, they’re going to move out. It’s so simple. But a politician doesn’t know this. A politician doesn’t know it. They’re all talk, they’re no action. All they know how to do is get reelected.”
Lying hypocrite!
