The City of Glen Rose audio records only one of their meetings, the regular Glen Rose Town Council meeting each month. They do not record special sessions, It's unclear if the other agencies of the City of Glen Rose, ie, the Preservation Board, Board of Adjustments, CVB Advisory Committee, Glen Rose Economic Development Board or Planning and Zoning actually record meetings.
What is definitely 1 is that they do not post the audio, IF it is recorded, to the City of Glen Rose website for most things. And, in the case of the City of Glen Rose, even the last couple of months of regular City of Glen Rose meetings are not posted on the website. (The speaker symbol on the page indicates that there is an audio associated with the meeting. Note also that in a huge number of cases there is not even written minutes.

Suppose you wanted to know what happened at a given meeting but were not able to attend. You would not be able to even know in fhe first place what was said specifically. Is it good enough to ask for what happened second hand from someone, anyone? Nope. That amounts to gossip, always better to listen to the source. Astonishingly, one of the people who is still on city council bellieves that if the public can't attend, they don't get to hear, OR they should have to come in on a weekday when the city building is open to listen. Remember that a citizen CANNOT EVEN LISTEN if no recording is ever made of a meeting. That same person is against posting audio on the city website.
There is no technical reason this can't be done for every single meeting, regardless of which agency. The city council chambers are set up to record. The city also has a digitial recorder that requires only a SIM card to record the data into. It is also ridiculously easy to audio record a meeting- you hit the RECORD button. Therefore, it's only the will of the city and the apparent philosophy that, the city runs as a non-accountable unit instead of providing information for an informed citizenry. The question is, who do elected government officials work for??? and it it's not for the people, then why are they in office?
This is 2017. We are not living in some past non-technical world where it was not possible to record meetings. Responsible governments, to include other governmental agencies right here in Somervell County, DO record their meetings and make them available via website. Why doesn't the City of Glen Rose?
