Did Somervell County Commissioners Court have prayer before Chambers took office?
When you read and listen to the audio below, consider whether it is EVER appropriate for the judge to tell an elected commissioner to "LEAD US IN PRAYER" as if a secular government meeting is a church. Second, in what world is it okay for an elected sitting official FROM THE DAIS to proslyetize? Past actions of Somervell County Commissioners Court under Judge Danny Chambers showing a pattern.

From an article at Bloomberg re: a case in NC that is being heard en banc in appeals court now.
Correctly interpreted and applied, Kennedy’s plurality opinion in the Town of Greece case would recognize this. In that opinion, Kennedy called for a “fact sensitive” inquiry. And he said that legislative prayer could not permissibly be used to “proselytize.”
Spreading the gospel is the very definition of proselytizing. That’s what one commissioner was doing in a 2007 Christmas prayer when he said, “We’d like to thank you for the virgin birth, we’d like to thank you for the cross at Calvary, and we’d like to thank you for the resurrection. Because we do believe that there is only one way to salvation, and that is Jesus Christ.”
There’s a name for spreading the gospel in an official government setting: It’s called an establishment of religion. The full 4th Circuit should rehear this case and reverse itself. If it doesn’t, the Supreme Court should take the case and clarify that the Town of Greece precedent doesn’t allow a legislative chamber to become a de facto church.
