When you work in a prominent position for the hospital, and you decide to sneak around to leave bunches of flyers at local businesses, and also tell people, all hush hush, that the HOSPITAL IS GOING TO CLOSE shortly (June 23) , people WILL talk. Can't imagine why Glen Rose Medical Center believes it is a good idea or good public relations to underhandedly trash Luminant in the middle of a lawsuit, but it's no wonder the following flyer has no one taking visible responsibliity. Maybe next time this prominent employee needs to skulk into a dark alley and pay some bum to take the hospital's hatchet work around. And, er, the hospital is running out of money and is having a number of the employees not work full days, and WE the taxpayers are paying for FLYERS that denigrate the entity that up to now has paid around 80 percent of the property taxes? (As a side note, I sure don't recall Ray bringing THIS up to the board) Hey, and GRMC, doesn't this violate your status as a non-profit to be doing this political hatchet work? OH, maybe that's why you're trying to keep this on the down-low that it's YOU that's responsible.
Man up, or should I say Woman Up! If you all at the hospital believe that Luminant needs to have pressure appiied to pay their taxes to keep the hospital open, that's one thing. It's quite another to create anonymous flyers to trash Luminant from what you hope is behind the scenes.. but is not.
P.S. It's my own opinion that while Luminant definitely bears responsibility for paying taxes for Somervell County, GRMC had no business spending money like drunken sailors in the past, including the last 2 years. GRMC KNEW this was coming. ALL the government entities knew this was coming, and, for example, Somervell County cut back their budget to be ready for what could happen. It's kind of hilarious how this flyer tries to lump in "county operations", trying to take the heat off the irresponsible actions of the hospital! GRMC, on the other hand, dished out salary raises, including some pretty hefty ones to the doctors in the 501a, who largely work in Hood County's hospital district, decided to go take out ANOTHER loan to remodel the Pecan Family Medical Center Clinic (which AGAIN is in Hood County's hospital district, for which the residents pay zero tax), all the while not being able to pay principle on loans they had outstanding already. All of that can and should be laid at the feet of Ray Reynolds and, largely, the previous Somervell County Hospital District board.
If you see a train coming at you while you are sitting on the tracks eating caviar, can you really complain? Yeah, I guess you can as long as you think No One Will Know that it's you whining.
P.P.S Because there are a couple more things that are pretty hilar about this. First, I heard that GRMC is SO desperate to try to fix the blame on Luminant instead of themselves that they actually went out during GRISD graduation the other night and left the flyers on everybody's car. haha. AND, one more thing on that silly argument about driving 25 miles to go to a hospital. Local residents KNOW that most of the time if they go to GRMC, it's only as a stop on the way to some other hospital. AND, NOBODY drives to Granbury or Stephenville or Cleburne to go shopping? Ever? I also remind that the reason GRMC couldn't get a community hospital designation was BECAUSE there were too many hospitals TOO CLOSE, according to Gary Marks. Please. Come up with some other ridiculous baloney argument because only the saps will respond to this. Or maybe, just maybe, GRMC ought to take some ADULT-sized responsibility for their own actions.
