Ron Hankins on spending money on yet ANOTHER loan for Pecan Plantation. "You gotta pay for it somehow".
And yet the very next day, up popped a meeting notice to ASK Somervell County to make the bond payment for the certificates of obligation AS WELL AS an item to just pay the interest and not the principle on the loan. For Pecan Plantation Clinic. Not for something in Somervell County's hospital district.
I've lost county of how many loans the hospital has taken out, but do know they burned through a half a million dollar line of credit already.
Back in October 2015, the board wanted to get money to get an architect to draw up plans for the Pecan Family Medical Center expansion. (That was around the time that Chip Harrison tried to get an illegal meeting held for the board in Pecan Plantation) Where would it come out of the budget? Nobody knew. I gotta say, this is SO dumb. Suppose you decided that you wanted to get your kitchen remodeled and you KNEW you were going to do it. Wouldn't you first look at your budget and figure out the highest amount you were willing to go to pay for it? This wasn't "Well, we'll get an RFP and then decide if we want to do this" this was "We're doing this and we'll get an RFP but we have zip idea right now how we will pay for it".
Don't forget between August and December, as per above, the district was going for plans to fix up Pecan Plantation Family Medical Center in Hood County.
Since Glen Rose Medical Center is so fiscally irresponsible, why should taxpayers be on the hook for dishing out MORE money into a separate hospital district? No, Mr Hankins, the money does NOT have to *come from somewhere*, and particulary not from the county just becuase you all can't control the money and have to go on the beg to get it elsewhere.
