Complaint about Glen Rose Medical Center in Glen Rose Reporter this week (1/28/2016)

Saw this via the Glen Rose Reporter, the community newspaper of record, as a letter to the editor. The gist of the complaint, by a heartbroken widow, is that when her husband went to the emergency room, upon being released, he was not given, nor was she, instructions on what to do; the wife felt a little summarily dismissed from the hospital. The husband passed away within a few days of that original visit. However, according to the patient record, the nurse wrote that she had briefed them with discharge information.

I pulled the medical records from the ER visit at Glen Rose Medical center. According to the medical records by the attending physician, “Patient and family counseled regarding the patient’s condition, test results, diagnosis and need for follow-up”. The nurse RN wrote in her notes, “Discharge instructions provided and reviewed with the spouse”.
NEVER did either the physician or nurse say one word to me. But it was noted in both their reports that discharge information had been discussed with me. Had this actually happened, Ronnie would still be alive today. The moment Ronnie started vomiting we would have been back in that ER.

Such a sad time no matter what for the Godfrey family. My hugs and best wishes to Suz.
