Love this! This has to do with government entities over a certain size being required to do video recording and archiving of their meetings. Doesn't apply to Somervell County now because we are too small.... but we can hope:)
Many boards and commissions — from the Park and Recreation Board to the City Plan Commission — regularly make critical decisions that can affect your life. But unless you are able to find a way to get downtown, often in the middle of the workday, you may be clueless about policies affecting dogs and cats at the animal shelter or the Landmark Commission’s stand on that old building you love.
But beginning this week, every single board and commission meeting that takes place at Dallas City Hall will be available for live viewing, either online or on local cable channels.
Perhaps more important, all meetings also will be archived so that they can be accessed at whatever time works best for individual viewers. In addition to archiving all meetings going forward, the city is in the process of populating its website with footage from sessions going back at least to January of this year.
