Had to laugh when I saw this video moment from the June 2015 regular meeting of the Somervell County Hospital District. Chip Harrison, who runs the meetng as his own personal "You Like Me" fiefdom, still refused to control the attendees, who treat meetings as a game show, did another WTF thing. 

So, let me introduce this by saying that one would think IF someone wanted to make a public comment, that person would step forward and make it ON THEIR OWN and not require being specifically called upon by the president. Not so with Dr Steven Vacek- Chip looked around the room trolling for people to speak, and called upon him, and essentially COACHED him with a leading question on what he thought Vacek should say. What is this, high school? I remember in high school sort of trying to make myself invisible when it came to certain teachers calling on students, and surely as an adult, would despise somebody deliberately calling me out to make a comment. What, is he next going to go around the room, pointing to each person? "You? You have a comment? No? Next. YOU have a comment? Let me set the theme of what you should say". Hahah, maybe citizens Should Be Very Afraid that they will be singled out by Mr Harrison. In fact, if this method of calling on people is going to be the modus operandi, then EVERYONE *SHOULD* be called upon, so that Mr Harrison canot be accused of being unfair and playing favorites (Oh, wait, he already does that with the almost full permission of the board). The other possibility, of course, is that, as opposed to this being a spontaneous comment of Dr Vacek that Harrison and Vacek had arranged beforehand for Vacek to be called out rather than him, as an adult, voluntarily stepping up to the mike on his own volition. If so, then it should have been an agenda item, cause that would not have been a completely voluntary public comment in which the subject wasn't thrown out BY the president.Chip Harrison is SO unprofessional. 

It's bad enough that Harrison says that calling people out of the audience is HIS public comment. Um. He's the president and anything he has to say to comment about ought to be on the agenda. John Parker did say at that meeting, basically, that Chip Harrison should be able to do whatever he wants. I guess this is part of it. Damn running a meeting professionally, as an adult, with respect for ALL,  as long as Chip wants to play The Old Schoolmarm and call people out. It's really an abuse of power to act this way.
