Ray Reynolds Says Many of the Inpatient Surgeries Could be done as Outpatient

I found this very interesting because it really has to do with the cost of healthcare, both at a national level and the debt on an individual patient. Ray Reynolds is basically talking about how more surgeries are needed to bring in money.

If we have more surgery, particularly surgery that is not EGD or scopes, we get hospital stays out of it. We now do 2 or 3 inpatient surgeries a month and many of those could be done on an outpatient basis but we do them on an inpatient basis from a financial perspective.
So, when this happens, does Glen Rose Medical Center TELL the patients they could do it on an outpatient basis? Of course that means less money for GRMC but theoretically the reason for the hospital is for the benefit of the people that live here as opposed to adding on addtional hospital stays.
