A few weeks ago my spouse got a Jury Summons for the City of Glen Rose.  We discussed what it would be about such as someone being mad over a speeding ticket or ordinace code violation.  When the day arrived my spouse arrived at Town Hall with the summons and saw that there were chairs with numbers for the prospective jury.  Some people had no even shown up for it.  My spouse recogized a person there.  Which was the person going to City Court.  My spouse did not get picked which we were glad of that but the next day we found out what the person was in Court for.  This person was down on their luck and had stole food from a grocery store so that they could eat.  The theft was for less than $50.00 so this person got a ticket.  So that's why they were in Court.  We also learned that this person had recently been divored, paying child support, living in their car, oh and lost their job (over shoplifting).  I don't support stealing, if you steal you should be punished. My question/comment is this:  Where has a world come to if a person can not or is to afraid to ask for help?  There was a time at the business that this happened at they would have done something to help a person in need.  They have always helped the community.  Has our world and govenment gotten so bad that people have to result to stealing to feed themselves or their familits?  I am willing to help anyone that needs it.  All a person has to do is ask.  I might not have much money but there are other ways of helping someone in need.  I know this next comment will sound bad but I will not ever shop at this business ever again.  And that is only my opinion.  What do you think of this?
