Ron Hankins needs to join the 21st century, where women are unique, thinking, individuals. HIs comments below continue to make me wonder if he is Svengali in his own personal relationships since he seems to assume that men have control over women. Not so with my hub and I. I do my own open records requests, with MY OWN NAME, because *I* am interested in them, and it's past insulting to see that men like Hankins can't fathom that; it has become pretty hilarious. (Who could imagine in the year 2015 that I, a woman, would be accused of not writing my own posts, or not being able to, under my own steam, do my own open records requests? ) If Hankins would spend a little time learning some respect for women, maybe he wouldn't be *Sick of it!!!!!*
Such retrograde sexist attitudes BEG to be made fun of because Some People Have a Hard Time Getting Educated!!!!
P.S. Makes me wonder what he thinks of Dr Karen Burroughs. Does he believe that she speaks and makes decisions on her own, or really her husband behind the scenes controls her? After all, she IS a woman and a wife.
I believe Ron Hankins acted inappropriately when requesting the hospital board to enact a policy that places limits on amount of information a board member may request from Ray Reynolds through the Freedom If Information Act!!!!!! Laws are in place to circumvent this sort of request from happening. If information is needed to obtain a clear understanding, then it should be made available. The hospital board should not place themselves in a position of acting as a filter that limits information. That is against the law!!!
The Public Information Act of Texas (TPIA) is a series of laws designed to guarantee that the public has access to the public records of government bodies at all levels in Texas. The Act provided under Texas Government Code, Chapter 552, gives citizens the right to access records at various levels of Texas government, without having to declare your purpose in doing so. The ability of a citizen to gain access to public records was at the discretion of the custodian of records until the law was formalized, except in those cases where records custodians were forbidden to allow access.
Moreover, the Texas Open Meetings Act provides the methods by which public meetings are conducted. Title 5A chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code defines the law. The law states that a meeting is any gathering of a quorum of the members of a public body with the intention of deliberating and deciding on public policy.

Honestly, I've given up trying to educate Hankins or anyone else that is this ignorant. I have no idea why he thinks it's appropriate to mention me in a board meeting at all, especially by name, and then take some crazy assumption and spew it out, but it's in HIS mind. I don't have to explain myself at all to reasonable people who know me and that includes OTHER government meetings where I"m recognized as a person in my own right. I sure don't want to veer off into feeling sorry for Hankins but I"m heading that way.
