I didn't go to the Somervell County Hospital District meeting tonight, as I haven't gone to most. Makes me glad I didn't go tonight for sure when someone called to tell me that Darrell Best decided to go to his Captive Audience as if he's in his own political road show and bring up his own agenda items.  One of those was apparently to trash Chip Harrison, the board president, behind his back by quoting something Harrison said in an interview with one of the newspapers. Another was to use the time to speak against some of the other board members by politicking for board members that would be (I'm putting it this way) puppets. 

I have NEVER been to any government meeting where, during an executive session, some political opportunist uses a captive audience to trash the board who are not in the room. UGH. UGH. UGH.

Two things. One. Maybe the hospital board ought to pass a decorum policy for the people in the audience who attend. Stuff like be QUIET during meetings, no cheering, stomping your feet, whistling, clapping or jumping up in front of the room to grab the mike. It's really not fair to people who attend who don't want the ugly spectacle of being involved watching a partisan politicking adventurer who has no respect not to drag trashing elected officials into what ought to be a respectful, neutral situation. Two. If Mr Best really wants to run for office, perhaps a spot on the hospital board, why doesn't he go grab a room for himself on a different occasion, pay for his own electronic equipment  and INVITE people or is he afraid if he doesn't have a captive audience, no one will show up?
