Saw the other day that Poor Ole Rick "Ooops" Perry, whom adding glasses to cannot help his brain, said to the Washington Post

In the Post interview, he was asked about the growing gap between rich and poor in Texas, which has had strong job growth over the past decade but also has lagged in services for the underprivileged. 

“Biblically, the poor are always going to be with us in some form or fashion,” he said. He cited statistics showing that since he took office in 2000, wages have increased among all four income quartiles. He said a young man who dropped out of high school in South Texas could make more than $100,000 a year as a truck driver.

Perry acknowledged that the richest Texans have experienced the greatest amount of earnings growth, but dismissed the notion that income inequality is a problem in the state, saying, “We don’t grapple with that here.”

Yeah, he's too busy grappling with how the fool he can convince people that a stupid man should be president.

Another reason why Rick Perry is not only clueless about what is going on in the state of Texas (spends too much time travelling other places??), but distorts the Bible. First, Texas is CNN Money

Poverty in Texas: Texas has a poverty rate of rate of 17.5%, compared with the national average of 15.8%. Texas has the 13th highest poverty rate in the United States.

Poverty across the state has changed little over the past two years, with about 4.5 million Texans living below the poverty line, which is $23,283 for a family of four.

But several of its metro areas have seen their poverty levels explode in the last decade or so.

And, ludicrous to hear anyone quote the Bible IN ORDER TO justify ignoring the poor. While it's 1 that Jesus said the poor would always be among you, he also made efforts to HELP the poor. Imagine if Jesus had, for example, not fed the masses or said "Yeah, I know you're poor, but I don't grapple with that, too busy running for Messiah".

You’re probably thinking of Jesus’ words in John 12:8: “You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.” His words were directed at Judas (who would soon betray Him), admonishing him because he was more interested in getting money for himself than in serving Jesus.

But Jesus wasn’t saying we shouldn’t fight poverty or help those in need–not at all. He was only giving a description of the way the world actually is, not the way it should be. The Bible repeatedly commands us to help the needy, and condemns those who take advantage of the poor. God told His people in the Old Testament, “I command you to be openhanded toward … the poor and needy in your land” (Deuteronomy 15:11). Jesus told His disciples to “Sell your possessions and give to the poor” (Luke 12:33).

You and I live in the most prosperous society the world has ever seen–and yet hunger, homelessness and poverty are still a tragic reality for millions every day. At least half the world’s population lives on the edge of survival because of the effects of poverty. How can we remain indifferent to their plight?

Ask God to show you ways you can help those whose lives are crushed by poverty.

That's not for Rick Perry, who spits in the eye of anyone that wants to be treated fairly, all the while quoting scripture with his sheep suit on.
