When I first heard about this in September, I can't say I liked it. Airstrikes can take out innocent civilians by accident. The one thing that seemed good to me was that the US wasn't going to be going it alone but has a coalition of other Arab allies.
Besides hitting ISIS targets, the United States, acting alone, struck training camps and other facilities belonging to a little-known network of seasoned al Qaeda veterans known as the Khorasan Group. Obama said that those strikes demonstrate to the world that “we will not tolerate safe havens for terrorists who threaten our people.”
From CS Monitor
But the Pentagon has its reasons for keeping the number of strikes to a minimum, Dr. Cordesman adds. “The level of air support has been restricted in a way to push Iraqis towards unity – to make it clear to them that the US is not simply going to support a sectarian government.”
This means that victory in this campaign cannot simply consist of arresting the momentum of IS, but rather it must change the conditions that have allowed the group to thrive.
The 22-nation coalition also reached this conclusion. “The root of the struggle lies in the conditions of the region: Ethnic and religious tensions, exclusionary governance, intolerance, and economic privation,” was another observation to come out of the meeting.

I wish I had the site where they showed how air strikes were conducted. It was very interesting.
It was carefully planned and conducted. There was virtually 0 percent chance of hitting civilian targets and/or individuals "by mistake" and it was a search and destroy mission. Several jet fighters were carefully and strategically located and the pilots were in constant communication with each other and helping one another locate individuals with weapons and also covering each other.
It was VERY interesting, well-planned and totally not a hazard to civilians. NO CIVILIAN CASUALTIES!
I will look for it and will provide when/if I find it.
