The responses to this were pretty hilarious. AS IF this lady indicted Gov Perry. What a totally stupid thing to post to his twitter account but then, we're not surprised, are you? Houston chron
Lehmberg did not indict Perry. She and other officials in solidly Democratic Travis County recused themselves from the case against Perry. Bert Richardson, a Republican judge from Bexar County, appointed San Antonio lawyer Michael McCrum to serve as a special prosecutor. McCrum brought forth charges against Perry, and on Aug. 15, a Travis County grand jury handed up an indictment alleging Perry abused his official capacity and coerced a public servant.
Update: Rick Perry said "A tweet just went out from my account that was unauthorized. I do not condone the tweet and I have taken it down."
AND problem is that Rick Perry supposedly CONTROLS his OWN Twitter account

and, er, it isn't like nobody has ever thought Rick Perry was drunk

Now, I acually think Rick Perry is lying about the whole tweet thing. I believe he wanted to tweet this and then feign appropriate disgust LATER after he pushed Lehmberg out there in the public eye again. Anything to distract from his indictment. If he wasn't worried, why is he hiring the legal help? Remember this, he didn't take action about 2 republican district attorneys that ALSO were caught DUI.
In two other cases in which Texas district attorneys have been charged with the same crime, Perry has taken no action.
In 2009, Kaufman County DA Rick Harrison was charged after going the wrong way down a street and hitting another car. It was his second offense. He was found guilty in 2011.
Earlier, in 2003, Swisher County DA Terry McEachern was found guilty of a DWI that came only a few months before Perry issued pardons for the 46 people McEachern had prosecuted in the notorious Tulia drug busts. The drug operation, aimed at Tulia’s black residents, was based on the tainted investigation of an undercover agent, who subsequently was convicted of perjury.
