So... You loan your campaign $10,000 bucks. Your campaign doesn't pay you back till you lose in a campaign last year (that would be the primary race against Dr Mike Jones and J D Sheffield). THEN you have your own campaign pay back the loan.. to yourself, and the payment is $31,000. DallasMorningNews
It’s ethically questionable to be able to profit and/or enhance your own personal financial situation through your campaign fund,” said Craig McDonald, director of Texans for Public Justice, a campaign finance watchdog group. “The campaign contributions from the special interests are going straight into his pocket, and that raises all sorts of conflict issues and ethical issues.”

And now a GOP activist has filed an ethics complaint against him.
A GOP activist has filed an ethics complaint against agriculture commissioner candidate Sid Miller for collecting thousands of dollars in interest on a loan he made to his own campaign fund.
Miller, a former Republican state representative from Stephenville, lent his political campaign $10,000 in 2000 at a rate of 10 percent annually. Last year, he repaid himself over $31,000.
The repayment prompted former State Republican Executive Committee member Mark McCraig to file a complaint with the Texas Ethics Commission. It cites a state law passed in 2011 prohibiting candidates from reimbursing themselves for more than the amount of the original loan.
