Somervell County Hospital District Doesn't Trust The Elections Dept to do a good job

I didn't attend the meeting this morning of the joint Somervell County Commissioners Court and Somervell County Hospital District, but heard that, when the petitions were turned in, rather than have Cathy Thomas, whose job it is to run elections, validate the signatures, they are going to do it themselves. Says a lot about respect, eh?

Very insulting "in your face" behavior!  Our election officials do an outstanding job!  Let them do "their" job!

Was this a stall tactic?  For how long?  Is there a time limit?  Are they just going to "sit" on petition?  A wise man with integrity would want immediate answers!  Enough said.

I am alive and well ,I can only hold my breath as long as hospital board can follow the rules (less than a minute).I did notice they finally posted a meeting to deal with the petition and they even have a public comment section before going into thier usual closed door meeting. Can not wait to hear the audio. It will sound like music to our ears .

I am ammused how they word it that the ctizens request an election , I thought we had demanded it , but what do we know we are not the all mighty board , only the tax-paying public , we don't sponser golf fund raisers or any of that typ of stuff .

Yeah, if we had *requested* it, wonder if it would have brought on the same reaction they had at that last joint meeting where they tried to keep from accepting the petition, bickering,  until THEIR lawyer intervened.

The "Austin" attorneys don't come cheap! Did hospital budget for this?  All the blunders that hospital district has created will make attorneys work 24/7!

(We taxpayers are paying for this--another reason to dissolve District)  Imagine over a 20 year span that District wants to stay in place til $14.5 million is paid back to county---attorney costs alone will bankrupt us!
