I took on a project in the summer of 2010. I won't go into details about it but I thought it would be done by January 2011. And, in fact, it WAS. I worked on that sucker (programmed it) for about 3 months solid just to get it done by 2011. About a month into the project, after it went *live*, one of the 3 people involved in the project *broke the deal*, which required another huge amount of work to rejigger the whole thing. During the summer, I didn't do much on it, wanted to laugh about Rick Perry, but picked it up again once the weather cooled. I FINALLY got the whole thing to a point where it's at a normal level this last week. Frankly, I was furious that I even had to do all this extra work for what essentially is a volunteer project because 1. I thought it would be 3 months worth of work and 2. one of the people involved did not have what I considered a sense of honour and responsibility. Since it was a volunteer project, I could have simply walked away but by the time the 3rd person pulled the stunt, I had put in so much time and effort I couldn't let it drop. On the other hand, it's amazing to me how much of one's life can be eaten away by something that was expected to be done over a year ago.
I also, as readers know, got pretty fed up with local politics about the same time that this other project came in and quit going to record meetings et al by 2011. That was actually a double bonus because not only could I take a break from watching what seems to me highly dysfunctional but needed to concentrate on finishing this other project.
I still have some plans for some new things and hope to be about them during the summer. Meanwhile, posting from me may be slow while I take that last lap around the track to finish this project up. That also includes a couple of videos that I have on my list that, frankly, have taken a lower priority than getting this first thing done.
