Ten years ago I and other Texans had high hopes for Lt. Governor David Dewhurst and for a while he tried to fight against Gov. Rick Perry and then House Speaker Tom Craddick.  However, the two men bullied Dewhurst into submission and he became a meek leader who went along with Perry and Craddick on every special interest whim.  He stayed low key, in the background of Texas politics.
