I'm willing to bet that some deep pocketed GOP shills told him that they wouldn't be contributing to his campaign unless he came out in favor of gay marriage. Perry is absolutely AGAINST gay marriage in Texas, rumours he has not answered in a public press conference aside, . There's also that hilarious receipt from his campaign for governor to a drag queen bar. So how would he manage to split the difference and make a justifying excuse? By saying States Rights! Yuh-huh. I had to laugh at Rick Santorum's reply to that one.
